Navigating in the Universe
The universe is Cartesian : each star lies in a X:Y coordinate
X and Y might be negative e.g. -19:-6
around the star are planets orbiting and around planets orbit moons.
so, -19:-6:41 is for a sun in X = -19, Y = -6, 4th orbit first moon.

A good place to start our journey is your home colony, click on the planet link above it :
planet
What you see now is the 'planet view' of your colony, see that the page is not as detailed as when you where in 'colony view'.
And there is another link above the planet that host your colony : a star link. click on it and you will visit the star system where you colony resides :
star
At the left side of the screen there is the sun of the specific star system and planets that orbit it are in the top row. Some orbits are empty either because of a random 'natural factor' or because the specific star cannot host planets on those orbits
Below the planets there might be moons orbiting them.

Note that your colony planet / moon has your name below it. You can click any planet to visit it and see if there is a fleet orbiting it, or just check its basic stats.

Now click on the region link above the system and we will see the region around your planet :
region
Region page shows an area of 7X7 (13X13 if you have premium account) centered around the star system you were previously. Some areas might not have stars, but where there are you can click on them and visit the system as you did earlier with your home system.
Wherever you have a fleet or a colony, there is a styled dot below to indicate your presense. You can use the navigation link in the main menu at any time, you will start at 0:0 of the universe in that case. On planet view you can bookmark a location of interest for you, bookmarks help you to send fleets easier towards them, or guide through the universe faster.
You can add a small note on every bookmark and you can manage all of them at your bookmarks page.
Now that you know how to navigate, you can start using your fleets.
